Samsung Galaxy A8s will be the first Android phone with in-display camera hole

If the Lenovo Z5s is the first smartphone loaded with 12 GB of RAM, Samsung for its part also has a first with its just announced Samsung Galaxy A8s. And that’s the fact that it will be the first Android phone with a hole cut-out on the display to accommodate the selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s is available now for pre-order in China until December 21. Release date will probably sometime in January 2019. But that’s for China only. No words yet on when it be released locally.

Aside from the in-hole camera on the display, the Samsung Galaxy A8s is also a full capable Android phone rocking a 1080×2340 pixels scree with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. However, Samsung has not made it official whether the phone will sport a Super AMOLED of LCD IPS screen.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A8s features Snapdragon 710 chipset, 6-8 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage expandable to 512 GB via microSD card. It will be loaded with a 3,400 mAh battery capable of fast charging through USB-C. On top is Android 8.1 Oreo coupled with Samsung UI.

For mobile photography enthusiast, you’ll be glad to know that the Samsung Galaxy A8s will have three cameras on the back. A 24 MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 10 MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 5 MP camera for depth sensing with f/2.2 aperture. The phone’s front-facing or selfie camera has 24 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
